Liverpool Win Champions League For 6th Time

Liverpool have won the 2018/2019 Champions League after beating Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 in an all-English final in Madrid. It is the 6th title in Europe's most important club competition for the English team. Last year Liverpool lost to Real Madrid.

It was a final that started out practically with a 1-0 lead for the Reds. Top striker Mohammed Salah scored from the penalty spot after Tottenham's Moussa Sissiko had the ball hit his extended arm in the penalty box after only 25 seconds.

It was a match that was far from the best final ever played. Both teams knew each other too well.  After a disappointing first half from both teams, the game started to pick up speed in the second half. As time went on Tottenham created more chances to score. But it was Brazil's national goalkeeper Allison Becker who made the saves that were needed to keep Liverpool on top of the match.

Three minutes from the end  substitute Origi scored after a corner for Liverpool. It was the first win for German manager Jürgen Klopp who had lost the Champions League twice before.
